Eleta is a respected, diversified and family-owned investment group that has been operating in Panama for over 60 years. We predominantly invest across five main verticals: energy, real estate, tourism, telecom & media, agribusiness and recently branching out into technology and ventures. We feel a deep sense of pride for what we do. In addition to delivering superior risk-adjusted returns to our shareholders, we are also committed to positively impacting our society, leaving our country a better place for future generations.
Eleta was established in 1964 by Don Fernando Eleta Almarán (1921-2011), a highly regarded Panamanian entrepreneur, engineer, financier, philanthropist, and public servant. Mr. Eleta was a pioneer in the region, as he founded the first radio and broadcasting company, RPC Radio, which later merged with Medios Panameños to form Medcom, the country’s leading multimedia company to this day. Additionally, he founded other companies, including Air Panama, the first airline in Panama, and Aseguradora Mundial, among others. He was also the creator of several civic associations and institutions, such as the Panamanian Association of Company Executives (APEDE) and the National Association for the Conservation of Nature (ANCON). In 2002, Mr. Eleta entrusted the leadership of the family business to his eldest grandson, Guillermo de Saint Malo Eleta. Taking on the role of CEO, Mr. Saint Malo has demonstrated exceptional acumen in expanding the family’s business portfolio and exploring new industries, such as Energy and Tourism. Under his dynamic leadership, the group’s energy division has thrived, making significant international investments that have propelled the growth of Electron Investments S.A. (EISA), now a vital player in operating the nation’s most efficient hydroelectric power plants. Furthermore, the group has expanded its presence in the Luxury Real Estate sector, forging successful partnerships for the development of Pearl Island, Panamá’s foremost luxury venture on an island. Above all, Mr. Saint Malo remains unwavering in his commitment to Mr. Eleta’s vision of improving Panama for both current and future generations, with a particular focus on the communities in which they operate.
